Okay this is by far one of the best mice I’ve used for a Windows PC and by far one of the best looking. Corsair has really gone the extra mile on this mouse and it has almost every feature you can think of.
Pros:
Great feel and it has a removable right finger (pinky) rest that can be easily added and removed.
All the buttons and lights can be custom programmed to do exactly what you want it to do.
You can switch between profiles at the click of the center mouse button.
It is as responsive as you want it to be from a slow crawl to lightning fast (probably for games).
It is extremely accurate for those of us that are artist this is down to the pixel level of accuracy.
Uses USB, Bluetooth and 24Ghz options with 24GHz or wired USB being the best options.
Comes with 24GHz dongle which is absolutely TINY!!! It will not get in your way.
*The iCUE software is extensive and robust. One of the best I have seen. *see Cons.
Cons:
Sadly as with much of the RGB software out there even the well designed iCUE software isn’t perfect. Often when waking the computer the mouse is not recognized and remains dark. I have to open and restart the iCUE software to get the mouse to light up. And sometimes the system doesn’t recognize the mouse at all until I change it’s mode several times. This can make it difficult to log into Windows having to use the Tab Key to get to the password box rather than clicking on it with the mouse.
They claim compatibility with ASUS systems but that is FAR from true. Yes, you can control the motherboard lights but only the motherboard lights. You cannot control any light headers, memory cards or other Aura supported lights. iCUE is NOT Aura complaint. Because you cannot control the Aura compliant headers, you MUST run the Armory Crate software from ASUS. Sadly these two programs do not play nice. Each time I wake the system I must reset the Armory Crate software as the iCUE software will override it EVEN when the iCUE software feature that controls the ASUS motherboard is turned off.
These kind of conflicts are not uncommon with RGB software.
Summary:
If you want your RGB to work, stick to one company. I cannot recommend this mouse if you want to use it’s RGB features UNLESS, you have purchased your entire system through Corsair or only want the RGB on the mouse alone. DO NOT MIX with other RGB brands. The company will shine you on and admit they do not plan to fix it regardless of motherboard.
IF however you have all Corsair hardware, then this mouse is a must. I have yet to see a better one. And don’t confuse this one with the similar looking cheaper mouse. This is the Pro SE.
NOTE: I have not yet been able to diagnose why the mouse is not always recognized but unplugging the USB and plugging it back in tends to resolve the problem. It may be local to ASUS motherboards.
I’d really love this mouse it it worked as was advertised.
